So...
The schedule:
We start at 5.30pm with a few games to warm everyone up. Most weeks we play group games, so that everyone gets to know everyone else. It's good to get along! Then the real fun starts - check out this terms's schedule here because that's what we're doing!
'Could be...
- Skateboarding & Blading
- Football
- Crafts
- Binball
- Pool
- Darts
- Table Football
- Tale Tennis
- Something completely different...!
After about an hour, we stop for some tuck (if wanted) and a short 5-10 minute talk. As we are a church youth club, it is often Christian in origin, but is generally geared towards life and interaction with others, rather than spoon-feeding everyone with doctrine.
Sometimes we can do something cool like going to the cinema just before Christmas, cooking our own pancakes, eating them, or having a camp fire! During the summer term, if the weather's nice (we're in Britain, so not that often then) we all go down to the local park for some exercise and outdoor games.
What's the name all about?
1 Timothy 4:12 reads:
"Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith and your pure life"
Important notice regarding helpers
We need more people who are over 18 and are able to go on a rota to help organise the games and generally oversee the club. If you can help, please contact me (Matt) via the Contacts Page.

The money raised from the youth clubs below goes a long way (for those whose minds work well with images, its about the equivalent of the length of the A10). We try to put some money back in to supporting the youth at the Church, so since our founding in 2005 we've spent:
- £300 on equipment for the youth clubs, including a music system, table football and air hockey.
- £60 on childrens games & prizes for the 2006 Summer Fete
- £110 on more children's games & prizes for the 2007 Summer Fete, all of these were chosen by the youth clubs
- money on three colour story books/bibles for the Sunday School.
- £60 on crafts & activities for children to do at the 2007 Christmas Fayre. This included several pieces that the youth club could do on Sunday Evenings. The youth stalls went down a storm and we are planning on taking this further this winter.
- £70 on children's games & prizes for the 2008 Summer Fete.
- £100 on new hymn books for the Sunday School.
- £80 on new crafts for the 2008 Christmas Fayre.
- £125 on children's prizes, games and face painting supplies for the 2009 Summer Fete.
- £110 on skateboards, helmets and pads for the YC.
- £130 on crafts for everyone to do at 4:12 in preparation for the 2009 Christmas Fayre.
Fair Trade
® |
Eric, our vicar, has recently charged 4:12 with the job of being the ambassadors of the church's Fair Trade campaign. Every week, we offer anyone free Fair Trade fruit, and sell Cadbury's Dairy Milk at tuck, because it is now fairtrade \o/
One of our talks recently was about Fair Trade, trying to get everyone to understand exactly why we feel it is important for us to support this great cause.
Visit the Fair Trade website: www.fairtrade.org.uk
I found this wicked link to a list of recipes for things that you can make using Fair Trade stuff. mmmmm... |
